Ryukyu Kobudo-Traditional Okinawan Weaponry The Ryukyu Kobudo Weaponry is a traditional weaponry style affiliated with the Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan Karate-Do. It is one of only two styles recognized on Okinawa. This traditional style of Okinawan weaponry evolved after concurring Japanese samurai seized all of the Okinawan islanders' weapons. The Okinawans were forced to develop a system of defense against the sword using only the implements of farmers and fishermen.
